The regular training took place for the second time this year in cooperation with the VIZE 0 platform, and it is a common part of PPL's activities. Since 2021, nearly 700 drivers have completed similar courses. Safety at all levels has long been a priority for the leading Czech parcel carrier.

PPL CZ company has a total of 28 depots and transshipment centres across the Czech Republic. The training locations are, therefore, strategically chosen nationwide to be within driving distance for all depots. This year, the courses took place at polygons in Sosnová, Brno, and Vysoké Mýto. Nearly 200 drivers will complete the training again this year.

Safety is one of the main priorities for us at PPL. We see driver education as a key component of caring for their safety. At the same time, we ensure that our customers’ shipments are safe throughout the entire transport process, from pickup to delivery to the recipient. Our goal is to minimize damage, develop drivers' skills and their ability to correctly react to crisis situations, thereby preventing traffic accidents that could endanger them, other persons, or the transported shipments. We believe that a professionally trained delivery driver means greater safety on the roads, fewer damages, and more satisfied customers,” says David Voznička, Operations Director at PPL CZ.

Current Czech legislation does not currently impose an obligation on transport company drivers to complete specialized training. Despite this, PPL has been regularly educating its drivers in this area for five years. The course itself is divided into two parts. The first part focuses on acquiring theoretical knowledge of traffic rules, dealing with crisis situations, and current legislation. The theory is followed by practical training at Czech polygons. Drivers complete practical drives where they test newly acquired knowledge in practice. This typically includes front and rear axle skidding, avoidance manoeuvres, crisis braking, skilled driving, and more.

We realize that PPL drivers are a part of the road traffic across the country every day, which is why we want to provide them with the best foundation for safe driving. During the practical part of the training, drivers repeatedly drive through dangerous moments simulated on a slippery surface and learn to manage them in the safe environment of the polygon. They are also constantly connected via radio with an instructor who immediately gives them feedback and advises them on how to handle the situation even better. These instructions are heard by all drivers on the polygon via radio stations so they can learn from others. Participants have the opportunity to complete the individual elements of the practical training several times, resulting in visible and significant progress in each of them. This increases the chance of successfully managing critical situations in everyday traffic,” adds Voznička from PPL CZ.

PPL has long sought cooperation with recognized experts and authorities in the field of road safety. Following the three-year PPL Drivers Loyalty and Learning cooperation with the Autoclub of the Czech Republic, which they initiated last year, the company continues this year with a partnership with the VIZE 0 platform, which strongly focuses on public awareness and prevention.
