Parcel boxes have become a common part of everyday life – they make picking up shipments easier, save time, and reduce environmental impact. That’s why it’s so important where and how they’re placed.
At PPL, we believe every box should fit in. Not just into the logistics network, but into the environment it’s in. That’s why we emphasize a sensitive approach to public space and the needs of towns and communities.
Design with purpose
When choosing locations, we consider not just functionality, but also how the box fits its surroundings. We typically place boxes alongside walls and can even integrate them into fences, facades, or walls. For heritage zones, we use a subtle grey wrap that blends in visually. Besides appearance, we also consider dimensions – the different sizes of our boxes allow us to adapt to even the most spatially challenging locations.
Eco boxes: when there is no electrical power supply, but plenty of sun!
In locations where connection to the power grid isn’t possible, we offer a self-sufficient alternative – solar-powered PPL Parcelboxes. These compact boxes operate independently of electricity. That means they can be installed in places where traditional boxes wouldn’t fit or where external power supply isn’t feasible. Plus, they come without displays or LED lighting, making them even more energy-conscious.
With Respect for Communities and the People Who Live There
Every new PPL box placement starts with a dialogue – with the municipality or the landowner. Together, we look for solutions that make sense for the location and the people who live there. We always consider who will use the box. At the same time, we make sure it doesn’t interfere with pedestrian or vehicle traffic, obstruct the view at intersections, or block barrier-free routes.
Data-Driven, Not Guesswork
We never place PPL boxes randomly. Each location is preceded by a thorough analysis – we examine population density, expected usage, traffic accessibility, existing infrastructure, and the presence of other pickup points or parcel lockers nearby. Thanks to this data, we know where a parcel box makes real sense – and where it doesn’t.
Every PPL box is installed thoughtfully and based on clear and transparent rules – our Parcelbox Placement Principles. These make sense to us and to everyone involved. This approach helps us build a network that is functional, sustainable, and meaningful.
Smart Infrastructure That Serves
We see PPL parcel boxes as part of smart urban and rural infrastructure. Their benefit lies not only in convenient, time-flexible pickup but also in reducing traffic and enabling more sustainable delivery. Our goal isn’t to place boxes everywhere possible – but only where they truly serve people and their real needs.
