A good product isn't enough. The path to it matters, too.
For Czech millennials, finding the right product is just the beginning. However, as soon as they encounter complications during the ordering process, their patience quickly wears thin. If the shopping process is too complicated or involves too many unnecessary steps, 62% of millennials will not complete their purchase.
If you run an e-shop, keep in mind that for this generation, every unnecessary extra click can mean a lost order. The simpler and more straightforward the path to checkout, the greater the chance of successfully completing the entire order.
The delivery method can be a deciding factor
Many retailers still view shipping as the final step in the purchasing process. For millennials, however, it’s already a factor when they’re deciding where to shop.
If an online store doesn’t offer the delivery method a customer expects, 67% would not complete their purchase. The ability to choose between delivery to a pickup box, in-store pickup, or home delivery thus becomes a legitimate competitive advantage, not just an added perk.
Trust Lies in the Details
Before clicking the “Order” button, they want to be sure they know exactly what they’re getting. Missing photos or reviews are a barrier for 54% of Czech millennials.
High-quality product presentation is therefore not just a matter of aesthetics. High-quality photos, detailed information, and other customers’ experiences help alleviate uncertainty and give people the confidence they need to complete a purchase.
If something goes wrong, they want a hassle-free way back
Return policies are more important to Millennials than to any other generation surveyed in the Czech Republic. Insufficient return options would deter 55% of them from making a purchase. The option of free returns also resonates strongly with them—it is a powerful motivator for them to complete an order.
Today, customers no longer view easy returns as a luxury. They see it as a natural part of a quality customer experience. The simpler the rules an e-shop offers, the more trust it will earn from this generation. And the more likely they are to shop there again next time. It’s really important to keep this in mind. Because even though, on average, only 1 out of 10 orders is returned, that one return must go absolutely smoothly. A bad experience can often mean that the customer won’t return to the online store.
How Can You Win Over Millennials as Shoppers?
If you want to reach Czech millennials, focus not only on the product itself but also on the entire shopping process:
➡️ Simplify the checkout process and eliminate unnecessary steps (mandatory registration, unnecessary checkboxes, unexpected fees, etc.)
➡️ Offer a wide and clearly organized range of delivery options
➡️ Don’t forget high-quality photos and reviews
➡️ Communicate clearly and transparently
➡️ Make it easy to return items
Millennials want to shop quickly, conveniently, and with the assurance that everything will go as they expect. And it is precisely the online stores that can offer them this that have the best chance of winning their favor and securing repeat purchases.
